The highly anticipated Xbox 360 exclusive makes its way to the public. For those three people who are unaware of Halo 3, here is the breakdown. Halo 3 is a first person shooter that transpires after the events of the Xbox smash hit Halo 2. Master Chief is reprising his role as the protagonist all the way through the entire game, and he is accompanied by the Arbiter. Those who played Halo 2 will remember that the Arbiter is now an ally of Master Chief. The storyline in Halo 3 starts with Master Chief and his men fighting against the Covenant. The plot is definitely the best in the series, and it answers all of the unanswered questions from Halo 2. In terms of gameplay, Halo 3 is eerily similar to the previous iterations of Halo and Halo 2. Avid Halo fans should have no problem picking up the controls of Master Chief or the Arbiter.
Gamers will not be surprised with the assortment of weapons. These entail the handgun, assault rifle, sniper rifle, shotgun, energy sword, grenades, bubble shield, and so much more. I seldom utilized the bubble shield, but it is still a nice touch. A grenade in an opponents mouth is my preference. The most grandiose part of the multiplayer is the cooperative gameplay. Gamers can enjoy the whole Halo 3 experience with three other players. That means a total of four people can play the game from start to finish. One player will be in control of Master Chief. Another will be in control of the Arbiter. The final two players will be in control of two soldiers that fight alongside Master Chief and the Arbiter. The visuals in Halo 3 are not impressive.
The game looks adequate; however, nothing anyone sees will make their jaw hit the floor. Some of the environments appear to be next generation. On the other hand, there are a few character models that look downright dreadful. Maybe I have been spoiled with the graphics from video games like Heavenly Sword, BioShock, GRAW, Killzone 2, FEAR, and Gears of War. But I was disappointed with the graphics in Halo 3. For the most part, the graphics look exactly like the multiplayer beta.
I might have high expectations, nevertheless I would have appreciated it if the visuals were better than the final product (especially for a next generation console like the Xbox 360). Another blunder with Halo 3 is the artificial intelligence. All of Master Chief’s allies act like asinine children. Fortunately, the frame rate runs smoothly throughout the duration of Halo 3. The audio in the game is amazing. All of the dialogue is rich and full of life; furthermore, the voice acting never seems to be insipid. The sound of gunfire and recoil gives a fairly immersive atmosphere.
There are even a few comedic aspects with your teammates. The musical score is one of the best I have heard in a video game. A live orchestral musical score has a flawless amount of crescendos and decrescendos. It significantly enhances the gameplay experience.
The artificial intelligence adjusts accordingly to your every move, so do not expect to see all fights to be identical. The wide selection of vehicles is limitless. Some of them are reconnaissance vehicles, tanks, aircrafts, transport automobiles, and most notorious of all the Warthog. There are also some original vehicles to the Halo universe. Most notably, the Mongoose ATV (who the hell comes up with these absurd names?) is a vehicle that has a motorcycle-like feel to it.
The multiplayer features up to sixteen players and eleven different maps. It is not as engrossing as the 32 player multiplayer that Warhawk supports, but sixteen that is not bad. There is also a level and video editor.
The video editor is like making your own Halo 3 movie. Even though Halo 3 is only a succinct ten hours, the game is still worth the gameplay. The final verdict on Halo 3 is that fans of the Halo series will enjoy Halo 3 for months to come. Overall, gamers should believe in Halo 3 and finish the fight.
Ragnarok Online or widely known as RO, is a massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) by Gravity Co., Ltd. The game is based on the comic book Ragnarok by a Korean autor, Lee Myung-Jin. The game was first released on 2002 in its home base, South Korea.
The game is mainly based on a Norse mythology but the storyline has been modified and has a Christian and Asian culture influence. There is also an animated series created called Ragnarok the Animation. Some servers are pay-to-play while others are free-to-play. There are also free private servers which have a higher experience and drop rate rather than the official server.
The base of Ragnarok Online is on its job system. Each character starts with a novice character. When they reach level 10, they are able to choose their first job class. They can choose classes such as swordman, mage, thief and many more. The next job class would be the second job class. The class that the player has chosen on the first job change would be upgraded to the secondary level.
After getting a base level of 99, they would then rebirth back to level 1 and would then upgrade themselves to the transcendent class. This class is the final class available to the character.
The Player vs. Player or PvP in this game is different from other games. Instead of being able to kill at anytime in any map, the players will have to go on a PvP map to be able to do so. They would have to talk to the PvP master and then warped to a mock town map for PvP. There are two types of PvP available.
Players are also able to join guilds and every guild is permitted to join the guild wars or the War of Emperium (WoE). WoE could happen in any two hours of the week which depends on the configuration of the server. The guilds would fight for a number of castles available in the game.
To gain control of the castle, the guild would have to reach their way on the fourth floor of the castle and destroy the Emperium. The War of Emperium is probably the most famous feature in the game and could also be one of the reasons on how the game still stands till today. Most players take place in it at least once a week while addicts join every one of them.
The graphic of the game might be a little to childish for a hardcore gamer but for some casual gamers, the graphic might be the least on what is on their mind. Fifa 09 is undoubtedly the pinnacle of football games you’ll find either on your PC or console. Fifa games have traditionally been a top favorite compared to Pro Evolution Soccer (though some might disagree); with a fully licensed game it’s hard to compete against.
It has to be said that Fifa 09 graphics are hard to ignore, they just get so much better every year. Gameplay has also improved tremendously, with AI perfected now that players actually request for the ball in spaces when you’re in possession. When a player is offside you will also notice defenders raising their hand in appeal to the linesman.
All these small elements add a whole new dimension of realism to the game. Unlike the rather arcade-like Pro Evolution soccer, Fifa 09 actually forces you to play with a slow and measured pace and is the best way to create goal-scoring chances. This can be a pain for some; slow build up isn’t an attraction for fast-paced gamers, which is why some might still prefer the arcade like Evolution Soccer.
All in all personally you might prefer playing Fifa 09. The sense of realism to the game is second to none, plus its much easier to score hear than in previous version as the keeper is much more easier to score against. Fifa 09 continues to dominate on the world stage across all platforms and nothings stopping it at the moment.
Walk into any cybercafe nowadays and there you see it, half of the place hooked onto the most talked about first-person shooter. Left 4 dead is basically about 4 people, called the Survivors, battling their wits against hoards of zombie-like aggressively infected people, simply called the Infected.
Left 4 dead is built based on multi-player co-operation although it does have a single player mode which actually is quite weak. During the game you will have to battle your way to a series of safe houses which then leads to a rescue point in each of the game’s four scenarios.
Other than the bots issue, the game is great fun to play. You are constantly pushed to the edge, having to deal with low health and low ammo. Having said that there are a number of awesome items you can use throughout the game, from pipe and Molotov bombs and weapon-turned propane tanks and gas canisters. There is simply no better feeling than to blast off zombies with a group of friends pumped with the adrenaline rush. Moreover the multiplayer mode is very much replayable, with events unfolding differently every time you play them.
However there are still several soft spots to the game. One instance is the AI. Playing with bots can seem rather passive and you will have to lead the way anyhow even if you’re low on health. Another low point is the fact that there are only four scenarios, which is considered very little. With normal difficulty you can finish the game in 20 to 30 minutes.
Having said that Left 4 Dead is undoubtedly one of the best multi-player games you’ll find in town. Its strong audio effects and solid visuals make it a highly tensed game throughout. It’s reminiscent of typical Hollywood zombie movies that catches you on your seat. This is definitely recommended for you hardcore gamers out there, just make sure your friends tag along too.

To start off, I played the first Gears for the campaign/co-op campaign. And I purchased this game for the same reason, so if you’re looking to know more about multiplayer gameplay, check out another review. That said, this game plays very well, very much like a thrill ride for the most part. Story can use a lot more refining and better integration. This gets a 5-star in its own right. But Halo 3 and BioShock are still better games overall than GoW 2.
GAMEPLAY: A+
This game still plays like the first Gears, except with a wider array of weapons and features (ie, chainsaw battles, different modes of executing a downed enemy). This is a third person shooter, for those who have not played the first one. And also, expect a lot of blood and violence, so if you are parents considering this game for your children, this serves as fair warning.
The campaign takes longer to beat this time around (10-20h I think). The graphics are very beautiful and realistic, and a lot more ‘vibrant’. The first Gears was in general a very dark and gloomy game. You see a lot more color in this one. Co-op campaign gameplay continues to be addictive and I think a strength in this game. It is still as immersive an experience for all players involved as the first Gears was.
Further, the creators definitely outdid themselves in design of the levels. You should expect to be pleasantly surprised with every single level that comes up. While you can clearly expect to see yourself running around in the streets battling waves after waves of Locust, you will also see another order of magnitude of fighting, with sometimes even as many as 80-100 Locust rushing through your field of view. To emphasize the creativity of the creators, there was also, at various points later in the game (spoiler warning), a section where you had to traverse a pitch-black tunnel to safely escort a vehicle across, and even a level where your squad somehow ends up inside one of the Locust beasts and had to fight your way out…
Overall, this game has been quite an experience. It deserves an A+ and Game of the Year awards.
